What to Wear for Your Fresh 48 Session

You just had a baby. You’re still in the hospital. Chances are you don’t look or feel your best, but you still want to look good for your Fresh 48 session. After all, these are images you will want to look back on for years to come.

Choosing what to wear for your Fresh 48 photos can be a little daunting, especially since you’re still recovering from labor and delivery. That’s why we put together a few options to help you feel fresh and beautiful even in the hospital room and to make sure you feel a little more comfortable in front of the camera.

Keep it simple and elegant

You don’t have to get all dressed up. You’re in the hospital after all! A great wardrobe option is to change into a pretty patterned or solid nightgown. This look highlights your femininity, which can be a boost to your self-esteem when you may not be feeling especially beautiful. Plus, the loose fit of a nightgown may be more comfortable than trying to put on pants or other restrictive clothing. Add a little makeup and hairspray to make you feel more put together with minimal effort.

Go for a comfy look

During your Fresh 48 session, you may not even feel like getting out of bed. That’s totally fine! Put on a loose blouse or comfortable nursing top and don’t worry too much about how you look. After all, most of the focus will be on the little bundle in your arms. Your photographer will ensure that your whole family looks their best, regardless of your outfit choice.

Add a little color

If you want to stand out a little more, go for a color that works well with your skin tone and hair color. Pink is a great choice for new moms, especially if you’re not wearing makeup, because it gives your skin a nice, healthy glow. Even if you end up deciding to wear something more comfortable, it doesn’t hurt to pack an outfit that makes you feel beautiful, just in case you feel up to glamming up a little.

Opt for neutral tones

If you want to keep it comfy but still look good, an all-black outfit can be a great choice. Not only will you look and feel great, but your newborn will stand out more against a black background. And if black isn’t your color, consider going for a jewel tone or another neutral to keep your look simple and clean.

What about Dad?

When it comes to dressing Dad, his look should be neutral and simple. Avoid bright colors or loud patterns and don’t worry about dressing up too much. A simple solid-colored shirt and jeans or shorts works perfectly!

Regardless of what you choose to wear, your Fresh 48 session is about capturing the growth of your family and the first days with your new baby. These are memories you’ll cherish for years to come!
